About Writing

"Finding the stories is not the hard part. Writing them down is." Annie Proulx

I just came across that prompt in A Creative Writer's Kit: A Spirited Companion and Lively Muse for the Writing Life by Judy Reeves, the author of A Writer's Book of Days. I found this prompt while desperately looking for an idea to write about on this blog, before the mid-night cut-off, so that I don't wreck August with NaBloPoMo like I did July.

I am stuck, but what the quote says is right. There are stories to tell all over the place. I can see them and some of them truly amaze me, but when I sit down to try to tell them, I'm lost. No words will come or, at least, not any that will adequately tell the story. I hate when this happens because I love to express myself through writing. The words get locked up and all I can do is write about not being able to write.

What unlocks the words for you? How do you come up with a totally awesome blog post each time you sit down to write?
