Writer's Workshop Thursday: Old TV

Mama’s Losin’ It

The prompt I chose from this week's list is:

A list of 10 old TV shows you’d like to make a comeback.

I don't know how long ago is considered old and, considering my faulty memory, last week is old, I'll just list the shows that I wished still came on regularly.

1. Monk!

I miss this show something awful. I like Monk. I understand Monk. He and I have a lot of things in common. Some folks think that he's nuts. I don't. I think that he's just misunderstood. He's a sensitive spirit.

2. Medium.

3. Little House on the Prairie.

I gave up the Junior Achievement club because it met on the same night that Little House came on. I couldn't stand missing my favorite show. It was a guarranteed cry-fest every week and I didn't have to explain the crying. I could justify it with the things that happened in the show.

4. Shock Theater

Yeah, so it wasn't really scary, but we loved it. :) We never missed an episode. We were faithfully planted in front of the television when it was time for our weekly scare-fest.

5. Wild Kingdom

This was another one that I didn't want to miss. I loved Marlin Perkins and all of the cool animals that he shared with us. I also remember that Mutual of Omaha sponsored the show.

6. Joanie Loves Chachi

"When you look at me..." ahhh I love that song, the theme song for the cutest couple on television way back when. I wish the show had gone on longer. I really enjoyed it.

7. Land of the Lost

The sleestaks are coming! I always hoped that Marshall, Will, and Holly would get back home, but I also never wanted the show to end.

8. I Dream of Jeannie

I always thought that it would be cool to be a genie, but I didn't like the idea of being stuffed into a bottle like was always happening to Jeannie. I loved her clothes and her hairdo/gear.

9. Emergency

Johnny Gage was hot stuff. haha

10. CHiPs

Eric Estrada was for CHiPs what Randolph Mantooth was for Emergency. Ponch and John were cool. It didn't really matter what the episode was about. They were cool dudes on those motorcycles.

Be sure to visit Mama Kat's to play along!

  1. Are you talking about the Emergency that came out before ER but actually had George Clooney. Or am I remembering wrong?

My kids LOVE Little House. The books and the shows.

    Over from Mama Kat's.

  2. Little House On The Prairie is on my list too--it's the only show on your list that I watched. That's something you gave up Jr. Achievement for it!
