Five Minute Friday...A Day Late

I know, I know. I did my first Five Minute Friday post on a Tuesday. Now, it is Saturday. I'm always late these days it seems. haha

We're to write for five minutes, no editing. This idea came from The Gypsy Mama

The theme for this 5 Minute Friday is: "When I look in the mirror, I see..."

===

When I look in the mirror, I see someone with a very negative self-image. I don't see beautiful, full, auburn hair. I see gray and thinning hair. Instead of a beautiful figure, I see a short, fat, old lady that doesn't feel at all beautiful, no matter how much my husband says so. I see sad, dimming eyes.

But, I also see a woman of worth. I know that I have worth because Heavenly Father doesn't make junk. He made me in His image. HE made me, in HIS image, so how can I be ugly?

I see someone that needs to have more gratitude than attitude. I see a woman that is looking forward to becoming a mother-in-law in the spring and a grandmother who-knows-when sometime in the distant future. I see a woman that has always wanted to be a grandma.

I see a woman whose heart is full of things that she can't let out because people don't or can't understand the heart words. I also see a woman who sometimes locks the door herself.

Mostly, I see a woman that wants to please and be pleased.

  1. First of all, I'm glad I'm not the only one who always arrives a day late to the party!!

I resonate with so much of your post.

I wish my husband was as accepting of my decision to age naturally as your is!

  2. Hey, at least we made it to the party, right? haha

I'm sorry that your husband isn't accepting of your decision to age naturally. Sometimes men forget that they aren't 17 anymore either.

Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting. I hope that you have a wonderful day.

  3. I was late too :D I'm going to be a mother-in-law in 2 weeks and we'll be grandparents in the summer. Today's ultrasound shows it's a boy!

I totally identify with your mirror. So glad you shared.

  4. Hi Jeri, congratulations on the new child-in-law and grandchild! Do you know what they plan to name the little guy? What a blessing.

Thank you for visiting and for your kind comments. Have a wonderful night. :)

  5. Hi again Suzanne, They are contemplating names right now. Of course, I told them Jeri could be a boys name too...hee hee. We have no preference. They're looking through some bible names that they like as well.

It's nice to find a fellow grandma :D God Bless.

  6. Hi Jeri,

Yes, it could be a boy's name. My first son was named after my great-grandpa.

From what I'm told, they are going to wait about 5 years before they start their family. I am going to blow up waiting that long! haha

May Our Father bless you, too.

    Your sis in Christ,
    Suz

  8. Hey Suzanne! First, thank you for the "follow". Secondly, You sound like a beautiful woman. I too have a negative "self-image, with thinning gray/brown hair and am short and "fluffy", (really fat, but I don't like that word!"LOL"! My ex-mother-in-law had a picture on her fridge that I will NEVER forget. It was a picture of a Ewe that said "Ewe's not fat, Ewe's just fluffy! Ever since then I say I'm fluffy. LOL! I am so thankful for a God that finds me worth saving. My hubby used to bring up the fact about how "fat" I've gotten, or how I never wear make-up anymore, I haven't worn make-up in about 14 years, since I developed a strong relationship with God. Hubby says it's because I'm Pentecostal, but really I just decided if God wanted me to have LONG BLACK eyelashes He would have given them to me. If he wanted me to have color on my eyelids, and cheeks, He would have done that also. I think God decides what HE thinks is beautiful and creates it. That's what matters. That goes for the inside as well, and you sound beautiful~
    God Bless,
    PJ

  10. Thank you so much, PJ. I've always loved that ewe and that saying. I saw it years ago myself. I think it is great. haha I think that you sound like a beautiful woman, too. It isn't what's on our outsides that matter. Being a "10" on the outside isn't what's going to get us to Heaven. I'm sorry that your husband said such rude things to you.
