Five Minute Friday: Every Day

This Five Minute Friday prompt was brought to you by The Gypsy Mama. Please visit her blog and join in the fun!

Every Day

Every day, I wake up and make a mad dash, hoping that I won't be too late and end up taking longer to get to the adventures of the day. We plan and plans change at the drop of a hat. One evening, we can have a calendar full of things to do, then wake up and find that we have absolutely nothing to do for that day after all. That's how it is with the work that we do every day. Every day, on call. Not knowing or knowing for sure. Every day, wondering what is going to work out, if it is going to work out.

Every day, still no rain. Every day, the corn burns deeper back into the ground from which it came. No puffy ears of corn, just sun-scorched stalks and acres and acres of emptying bank accounts and another hard year for the farmers who count on this for life, for living, for their future. Every day, a future uncertain. Every day, questions brought up and questions unanswered, and questions answered with answers unfavored. Every day, the only thing that is certain is uncertainty.

  2. Popping in from 5 Minute Fridays... we live in farm country and are amazed at the faith of farmers and their total dependance on God for their success. Great post - turns my heart and prayers for all farmers and their families. Thanks for sharing!! :)

  3. I didn't know you lived in farm land! The rain is a necessary evil.. we need it to grow, but it never comes at a convenient time. Such is life, no?

  4. Thank you, all of you, for stopping by and commenting. I appreciate that so much!

Yes, it takes a great deal of faith to continue to battle against too little or too much rain. It is always feast or famine. PTL we got more rain today!

Miel, yes, this is a rural little town with farms all around (ranches, too). We're in the shadows of one of the largest cities in America and that place is inching ever closer. I sure don't want it to. I grew up in the country. :)
