Scavenger Hunt Sunday

For this week's Scavenger Hunt Sunday, we were to photograph the following:

Architecture
Rimmed with Light
Toes or Feet
This is my favorite..
Shade(s)

My camera equipment is not playing nice with me, so while I back up and assess that situation, I will share the following that go along with the requested items, though more than one is from my archives. However, all are from the year 2011.

Architecture
This photo is of the gable end of the main house at the Varner-Hogg Plantation in West Columbia, Texas. My husband asked me to try getting a shot of the top of the palm along with the roses that I was photographing at the time. It was a very overcast day. It would have been a better shot had there been some blue to the sky at all, but it was only clouds as far as I could see.

Rimmed with Light
I will admit to not knowing exactly what is meant by rim lighting or how to achieve it in the manner this prompt intended. But, there is lighting on the rim of my glasses and along the back of my head. Does that count?

Toes or Feet
Ok, I have less than beautiful feet, and really need to do a pedicure, but I love my sandals. I wear them pretty much everywhere. :) This picture was taken at the butterfly garden of the local elementary school.

This is my favorite...
...thing to photograph: flowers! I love flowers! I love the colors and the fragrances (most of them, anyway). My very favorite flowers to photograph are roses and wildflowers. This photo was taken at our visit to Myra's Garden.

Shade(s)

These Spanish-moss covered trees are all over the place at the Varner-Hogg Plantation. It is beautiful there! At the time this photo was taken, the trees were all leafed out yet, but I imagine that they are fully loaded now, providing lots of shade from the harsh Texas sun.

This will likely be my last Scavenger Hunt Sunday for a while, at least until I can get my cameras sorted out.

Have fun, all of you, and be sure to link up with Ashley at Ramblings and Photos to join in on the Scavenger Hunt Sunday fun. :)

Thanks, Ashley. :) I wish that I knew what kind of flowers they were because I'd love to grow them here at the house. The lady at Myra's said that she couldn't pronounce the name of them (her native tongue is not English). She tried and it sounded almost like asparagus, but I don't think that is what she meant. At least she tried. :)

I hope that you have a great Sunday, too!

  3. I have no idea what those flowers are either, but they're gorgeous! That shade tree also looks so nice!

Congrats on completing the scavenger hunt!

    Thank you, Lynda. :)

I think that those huge shade trees are pecan trees. There are lots of pecan groves around here and they did a huge business this past fall.

Thanks for visiting and for your kind comments. :)
