HodgePodge Wednesday

Please visit From This Side of the Pond to join HodgePodge Wednesday!

Now, for this week's questions!

1. Have you ever been served breakfast in bed? Do you enjoy that? If someone were serving you breakfast in bed this coming weekend what would you hope to see on the tray?

I can't recall ever being served breakfast in bed, at least no time other than when I was hospitalized for having babies and surgeries. I enjoyed having the babies, but not so much having the surgeries. :)

Shrimp! I love shrimp no matter what time of day it is.

2. What is one piece of advice you would give a new mother?

Don't let other people interfere with how you raise your child. The child is ultimately your responsibility, not theirs. It just breeds resentment when you're always doing what others wish against your own judgment. They may be older or more experienced, but that doesn't mean that you're clueless.

3. When was the last time you wanted to scream? Explain.

Last night. I don't like being shut out and disregarded. Actually, rather than screaming, it makes me want to drive down the road at about a hundred miles an hour or so.

4. Can you hula hoop?

Yes. There are some times that I do it better than others, but I can do it and enjoy it. It is both fun and funny.

5. What is something people do in traffic that really bothers you?

What I totally dislike is tail-riders and horn-honkers. If you think that I'm going too slow, either go around or leave earlier next time. I'm not going to splatter myself or my family all over the road just because you're an impatient weenie.

6. What do you do when people don't admit they're wrong?

I guess that would depend on who it is, what they were wrong about, and how sure I was that they were wrong. The two ways that I generally deal with upsetting situations is either push it beyond their limit trying to get through it or the other extreme, completely shutting down.

7. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word 'fun'?

At this point, the answer would have to be time alone with my husband in the total absence of other people.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I wish that people had self-respect as well as respect for others. I wish that people didn't see it as their job to provide temptation for others to stray from what they know to be right. I wish that those tempted could resist temptation. I wish that people would take responsibility for their own actions rather than blaming the people that they hurt. I wish that everyone would just be nice. Me included.

  1. Self respect is a great thing to wish for other people. I think it goes hand-in-hand with self esteem. I wouldn't mind a little bit more of both.

  3. @Miel et Lait

Thank you, Miel. :) I'm lacking in the self-esteem department, that's for sure. Maybe we'll both figure out how to change that for ourselves before we're too old to care.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Yes! Everything would be so much easier if folks would just be nice to each other. :)
